  • Estimating
    • Lead and support estimating efforts for milling operations
    • Lead and support estimating efforts for civil site and roadway construction projects.

Qualifications/Experience required:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent preferred, but may be substituted by experience.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in the Civil Site/Roadway construction industry with experience in earthwork, underground utilities and milling, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities: Candidate will work with our Chief Estimator and/or Project Manager(s) to create estimate takeoffs and documents using software tools and resources which support our estimating goals. Duties include: (1) Prepare takeoffs for review and use by the Chief Estimator and/or Project Managers for Heavy Highway projects to be estimated. (2) Prepare material and line item quantities for review and use by the Chief Estimator and/or Project Manager that will be used in preparing estimates to be bid. (3) Assist Chief Estimator and Project Manager(s) with preparation of quote solicitation. (4) Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings assigned by CE Chief Estimator.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have strong computer aptitude and able to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Work well in a team environment and work with project managers/estimators that maybe located in other offices.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and associated documents.
  • Ability to remain task-oriented and meet project deadlines while working in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor & train entry to mid-level positions within estimating organization.

Education: Qualified candidate should have an associates or bachelor’s degree in Civil/Construction Engineering Technology or Drafting Technology (or similar accredited program).

Experience: A minimum 2 years’ experience in design and detailing of the civil/process disciplines associated with Transportation and Site-Civil and Structural infrastructure as part of a multi-disciplined design team, high proficiency in some or all of the following:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, Google Earth, Microsoft Excel and Word, Bluebeam Revu, HCSS HeavyBid.
  • Knowledge of grading, DTM creation, point management, profile and section creation.
  • Surveying experience is a plus.
  • Calculate and present bulk earthworks quantities, material take-offs, including spreadsheet post-processing as required.

Job Summary

We are looking for a self-motivated person who could lead a team of people in civil site &/or roadway projects in the Central OH (Columbus) area. The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day activities on-site with regard to project scope of scheduling, manpower, and budget.

Organizational Relationships

This role works closely with the Project Manager, and will assist and supervise crews including laborers, equipment operators and subcontractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the primary person on site responsible for safety, including implementing site specific health and safety plans, and company safety rules and policies.
  • Review project scope/plans, specifications, schedule, budget, contract documents, and deliverables. Also, track equipment and labor cost.
  • Plan daily crew work schedule, review and approve crew time-sheets and expense reports.
  • Complete daily diaries & logs of the work performed in the day.

Qualifications

  • 5 years supervising construction projects in a related field.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
  • Proven track record of successful projects as a superintendent or foreman.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification, OSHA Confined Space Entry Team certification, OSHA Excavation Safety Competent Person certification preferred.
  • Effective organizational as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • HCSS Heavy job experience preferred but not required.
