Position Summary:
The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving internal and external technology projects across the organization.
This is a hands-on role combining project management, business analysis, and practical technical involvement. The position works closely with the IT Director, business users, technical staff, vendors, consultants, software providers, and managed service providers to keep projects organized, moving forward, and aligned with business needs.
The successful candidate should be comfortable managing multiple initiatives while also helping with analysis, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and limited technical work when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple IT projects from planning through implementation and transition to support.
- Project manage work performed by vendors, consultants, software providers, and managed service providers, including scope, schedules, deliverables, dependencies, issues, and accountability.
- Coordinate internal IT staff, business users, and external resources to establish clear ownership, priorities, timelines, and next steps.
- Own and maintain project tracking in Asana, including project setup, configuration, tasks, milestones, risks, decisions, dependencies, status information, and reporting.
- Help configure and continuously improve Asana to support effective IT project management, including templates, workflows, fields, dashboards, reporting, meeting follow-up, and project closeout.
- Help the IT team use Asana and other project-management tools effectively and consistently and reinforce practical project-management standards.
- Facilitate project meetings, document decisions and action items, and drive follow-up through completion.
- Identify project risks, resource conflicts, technical dependencies, and unresolved decisions and escalate when appropriate.
- Work with business users to understand processes, requirements, problems, and desired outcomes, and perform business or data analysis as needed to support decisions.
- Participate in testing, troubleshooting, system configuration, implementation, integrations, reporting, and other technical project work when appropriate.
- Help ensure projects include appropriate testing, training, communication, documentation, and user adoption.
- Support project intake, prioritization, and governance processes as needed.
- Support and assist the IT Director with project coordination, department priorities, operational issues, communication, and follow-through.
- Provide additional coordination and leadership support during staffing vacancies, absences, or periods of high workload.
Typical Project Areas:
Projects may include ERP and enterprise applications, Microsoft 365 and Azure, data and Power BI, integrations and APIs, infrastructure, cybersecurity, field technology, trucking and logistics systems, equipment and telematics, AI and automation, MSP initiatives, new facilities, software implementations, and business-process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of IT project management experience.
- Experience managing projects involving vendors, consultants, software providers, and managed service providers.
- Strong project-management, organizational, communication, documentation, and follow-through skills.
- Experience with project-management tools; Asana experience is preferred.
- Ability to configure, maintain, and improve project-management tools and help teams adopt practical and consistent project-management practices.
- Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to translate business needs into technology requirements.
- Sufficient technical knowledge to participate in application, infrastructure, integration, data, and troubleshooting discussions.
- Willingness and ability to perform limited hands-on technical, testing, analytical, or implementation work when needed.
- Ability to identify risks, dependencies, ownership gaps, and resource conflicts.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in construction or another operationally intensive industry, enterprise ERP systems, Microsoft 365/Azure, reporting and data tools, integrations, and basic SQL, scripting, API, or automation knowledge.

The successful candidate should be highly organized, dependable, technically curious, and comfortable moving between project management, business discussions, and hands-on problem solving.
They should communicate clearly, validate assumptions, hold internal and external resources accountable, and help the IT team improve how projects are planned, tracked, documented, and completed.
Reporting Relationship:
The Senior IT Project Manager reports directly to the IT Director and serves as a key support resource in coordinating projects, priorities, vendors, and departmental follow-through.
