Safety

We are leaders in safety excellence, with a nationally–recognized safety program to prove it.

  • Three-time recipient of the Jerry Keller Memorial Safety Award
  • Associated General Contractors of America National Construction Safety Excellence Award winner; 2011, 2016
  • Black Swamp Safety Council Leadership that ‘Gets It’ Award winner
  • Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation Achievement Award winner

Our comprehensive safety program includes site-specific plans, pre-job planning, daily Site Sense meetings, regular inspections and a substance abuse program. When projects are in-progress, our state-of-the-art software and reporting systems help keep safety on track.

While our number one goal is for each employee to return to his or her family safely at the end of every work day, we know that safety makes sense. Our excellent safety history translates to pre-qualification with some of the top companies in the nation and reduced insurance rates, on top of already competitive pricing.

“Our number one goal is for each employee to return to his or her family at the end of every work day, and each and every employee understands that commitment starts and ends with safety.”

We have implemented an important initiative at MBC Holdings.

Statistics reveal that mental health is a real issue in our society and industry. MBC Holdings has launched an initiative to create a caring culture where an individual can recognize his or her full potential, can cope with stress of a normal life and can be a productive and fruitful member of their community.

Our initial goal is to raise the awareness on mental health and to nudge a new trajectory towards mental wellness being talked about. Our initial efforts include forming a Mental Wellness Leadership Council consisting of field and administrative staff, publishing Tool Box Talks on suicide

awareness during the month of September, and having training and open discussion to remove the stigma of mental illness.

As we recruit and retain employees, it is our goal to make MBC Holdings the employer of choice now and for future employees.

Miller Bros. Const., Inc. is committed to STAND Up for Suicide Prevention through the principles set forth by the following principals:

Safe: We pledge to create a culture in which team members feel safe to ask for help if they are having suicidal thoughts or if they are concerned that their fellow co-workers are at risk of suicide.

Training: We pledge to make suicide prevention training available to all team members so that they can recognize the warning signs and be equipped to help those at risk.

Awareness: We pledge to raise awareness by sharing the message of suicide prevention through such organizational activities as trainings, safety meetings, toolbox talks, team meetings, newsletters, and social media posts.

Normalize: We pledge to normalize the topic of suicide prevention as a health and safety priority by talking about suicide, suicide prevention, and mental health.

Decrease: We pledge to help decrease the risk of suicide in construction by ensuring that all employees have access to an awareness of our EAP behavioral health

benefits, screening tools, community crisis support, the Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and Crisis Text Line.

We are committed to this model to STAND Up for Suicide Prevention and will use it to impact our employees and share it with others in the industry.
